The United States spends more per capita than
any other industrialized country. Citizens in
Sweden, for instance, spend a maximum
of $9
per day for hospitalization,
and yet the United States has a lower life expectancy
and higher infant mortality rate. Why are we spending so
much, and spinning or wheels trying to improve our
system?
Many are arguing that the Constitution does not guarantee
American citizens the right to universal health care. So
what! Many things have changed since the Constitution was
written, and what is most important now is that we work toward a
system that ensures all of our country’s citizens are well taken
care of.
The crisis of the uninsured has become a plague sweeping
across our country like locusts feeding on our crops. For all
of our differing opinions on what health care reform should consist
of, we all seek the same ending – coverage and access to healthcare
for everyone.
You can make a difference just by contacting your
Congressional representatives and voicing your opinion or telling
them your personal story about how the uninsured (even if that means
you) are affecting your life.
