The Consequences of the Uninsured - Part Three

The hospitals, who cannot afford to absorb these high bills, pass it along to patients who do have health insurance, which is why you are paying for the uninsured even when you, yourself, have plenty of coverage.

The uninsured are not a burden on society – it’s a symptom of a vicious cycle where everyone is trying to pass off the responsibility of the situation onto someone else, instead of seeking a solution for citizens before they, too, become one of the uninsured in America.

The uninsured are not simply a class of jobless citizens dependent on government assistance for their care – many, if not most of them – are workers, or dependent upon workers whose employers simply don’t offer insurance, and don’t pay high enough wages to cover individualized care.

How can you help?  Health care reform is gaining momentum in both federal and state level government circles.  Find out what your local legislatures are doing to work toward health care resolutions and then support those candidates who want to make a difference in the medical treatment of all citizens – regardless of their insured status.
