There is so much to know about health care
coverage and yet most Americans are inexperienced at
exactly what to look for and how to get what they need—no more
and no less. More means paying extra. Less means finding
yourself caught short at a time you most need
coverage.
The following three questions are ones you absolutely most ask if
you are going to successfully navigate the the balancing act
required to be a savvy consumer of health care insurance.
While the questions may seem obvious, the answers all provide
nuances and dimensions you might overlook, which could prove
problematic down the road.
Are My Health Care Providers Covered by the
Plan?
Of course that’s going to be the first thing you look for. You
want to be able to stay with the medical team you know and
trust. But ALSO keep in mind:
--Sometimes the practice may
be covered, but not your particular doctor
--Sometimes one plan
under the same insurer covers your doctor, but the one you or your
employer is considering does not
--Don’t forget to check the
hospitals with which your doctors are affiliated. They must be
covered too or you’ll pay a small fortune if you and your
family are admitted.
--Be sure to base your decision on the
doctors you and your family use most. Don’t try to force fit
every doctor you ever see.
